The only victory RCB would taste on this opening day, in the coin toss they elected to bat first. After a somewhat strong start at batting three wickets soon came in quick succession for the CSK, the last of the trio on behalf of recent world cup champion Glenn Maxwell, which the yellow army of Chennai was thrilled to see after such a let down from the Aussie in 2023. Virat Kholi appeared to be starting up quiet the run score but was amazingly caught out by New Zealand National and world cup star Rachin Ravindra. However Premier bowler Mustafizur continued to impress bowling out for a fourth wicket after only six attempts, it appeared at this moment that the former champs were already on from to repeat glory in this 2024 season. But, the partnership of Rawat and Karthik had other ideas as runs kept coming until a run out courtesy of Dohni stopped them in their tracks. A run of 174 was established and it looked like a chase was going to be necessary for the 2023 champs to win opening day. Ravindra and Gaikwad got off to a quick start racking up 38 runs between them, before the first edging came. This of course is when after 37 runs Ravindra was caught out and a screamed “Fuck off” by crickets biggest modern star Virat Kohli, in a sport of proper Englishmen origins, this was denoted as hostile and unbecoming of a cricketer but from this writers perspective was nothing more than a hyping up of an elite level athlete in the middle of a high level sporting environment. With two wickets coming quickly thereafter the partnership of Jadeja and Dube would not be denied as boundary after boundary and sixes rained from above. Leading the Super Kings to defeat RCB by six wickets and 8 balls remaining. If anything the match was a success in kicking off a season that appears to have no guarantees.
